Why Africa?
Each of the destinations where I host yoga holidays - Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Uganda—offers something truly unique. Here’s why these places are so special and why combining them with yoga makes for an unforgettable journey.
Namibia – The Land of Endless Horizons
Namibia is where my roots are. It’s a country of extremes - towering red dunes, vast open spaces, rugged coastlines, and some of the darkest night skies on Earth. The silence here is unlike anything else, and it’s in that silence that you find yourself.
There’s something powerful about moving through breath and flow in a place so raw and untouched. Whether it’s hiking in the Namib Desert, tracking desert elephants in Damaraland, or feeling the pulse of life at Etosha’s waterholes, every moment here is infused with something ancient and sacred.
South Africa – The Perfect Blend of Wild & Culture
South Africa is a country of contrasts - vibrant cities, dramatic coastlines, lush winelands, and incredible wildlife. It’s a place where you can wake up to an ocean sunrise, hike in the mountains, and be on safari by sunset.
From the wildlife-rich Greater Kruger National Park to the coastal beauty of Cape Town and the Garden Route, South Africa offers something for every kind of traveler. It’s a place of adventure, connection, and soul-stirring landscapes.
Botswana – The Wild Heart of Africa
Botswana is pure, untouched wilderness. It’s a land of water and dust, where the Okavango Delta breathes life into the desert, and elephants roam in herds larger than anywhere else on Earth.
Safari in Botswana is raw and intimate - whether it’s gliding silently through the Delta on a mokoro (traditional canoe), boating on the Chobe River or watching a leopard move through the golden grass of the Savuti. It’s a place where you truly become a part of nature, not just a visitor.
Zimbabwe – The Soul of Africa
Zimbabwe is underrated, yet breathtaking. It’s home to the mighty Victoria Falls, the vast wilderness of Hwange National Park, and the magical waters of Lake Kariba.
Zimbabwe’s warm-hearted people, rich culture, and incredible wildlife make it a hidden gem for those looking to experience Africa in a more authentic and off-the-beaten-path way.
Uganda – The Pearl of Africa
Uganda is where lush rainforests meet untamed wilderness. It’s one of the few places on Earth where you can sit face to face with a mountain gorilla, feeling an unspoken connection that goes beyond words.
In Uganda, yoga becomes deeply introspective and grounding—whether it’s a slow Yin practice in the misty mountains of Bwindi or a gentle flow beside the Nile River, where life moves in a rhythm as old as time.
Beyond the gorillas, chimpanzee tracking, savannah safaris, and vibrant local culture make Uganda an incredibly rewarding destination. It’s a place that reminds you how deeply we are all connected - to nature, to each other, and to something greater than ourselves.
The Power of Outdoor Yoga in the Wild
There’s something profoundly different about practicing yoga outside, in nature, surrounded by the wild. No walls, no artificial lights - just the open sky, the ground beneath you, and the energy of the land.
Each yoga safari I guide is unique, incorporating different styles that fit the setting:
✨ Morning Vinyasa Flows – to awaken the body and synchronize with the rising sun.
🌿 Slow, Grounding Yin & Hatha Sessions – to restore balance after a day of exploring.
🌀 Breathwork & Meditation – to deepen your connection with the elements around you.
💫 Yoga Nidra Under the Stars – allowing the sounds of the wild to lull you into deep relaxation.
The practice isn’t about how flexible you are or how long you’ve been doing yoga - it’s about being present, embracing the moment, and allowing nature to guide you.
